Back in these early years, Novos Baianos had an inventive sound that was really a standout in 70s Brazilian music a sense of earnest, open-handed music making that was something of a legacy from the Tropicalia years but one that also carried with it some of the more hippie-dippy influences in the Brazilian underground of the early 70s! The style here is a bit sparer and more acoustic than on some of the group's other records often comprised from samba percussion and guitar, but occasionally augmented by more electric instrumentation, as well as some folkloric flute!
