Embracing disco music, Gilberto Gil released the album “Realce” in 1979. It is the last record of the quadrilogy “Re,” following “Refazenda,” “Refestança,” and “Refavela.” The work has been reissued on 180-gram vinyl as part of the “Clássicos em Vinil” collection — a partnership between Polysom and Gege.

The repertoire features highlights such as “Não Chore Mais” (a version of “No Woman, No Cry”), the title track, “Superhomem, a Canção,” and “Toda Menina Baiana.” Additionally, Gil performs “Marina” by Dorival Caymmi, opening side B.

The core band, consisting of Rubão Sabino (bass), Luiz Carlos (drums), Tuca (keyboards), and Djalma Correa (percussion), was joined by an extensive lineup of California-based musicians, such as Steve Lukather (Toto), along with other Brazilians like Liminha and Lincoln Olivetti.
