Forty-five years ago, at just 20 years old, Lô Borges presented two very important albums for national culture: the debut of Clube da Esquina and his self-titled first solo album. Commonly known as the “tennis shoe album” due to its cover image, this record is a milestone in the career of this major figure in MPB and Minas Gerais music. This year, “Lô Borges” returns to shelves as part of the “Classics on Vinyl” collection from Polysom, on 180-gram vinyl.
With production direction by Milton Miranda, musical direction by Maestro Gaya, and two esteemed production assistants, Milton Nascimento and Márcio Borges, the album features 15 tracks. All the songs are written by Lô, some in collaboration with partners such as his brother Márcio, Tavinho Moura, and Ronaldo Bastos. The band accompanying him includes notable names like Toninho Horta, Beto Guedes, and Zé Geraldo. The sound has a touch of experimentation, blending jazz, rock, and MPB.
