RED LABEL-HOMMAGE TO LESTER YOUNG & THE BASIE-ITES

Lester's Blues is a seven-headed swingjazz tribute to the thirties style and music of Lester Young, Count Basie and their peers. The orchestra, founded and directed by saxophonist Tom Callens, consists of experienced 'MTV-generation' jazz musicians from both parts of Belgium, and the Netherlands. They recorded an album (Red Label: Hommage to Lester Young & The Basie-Ites) in March 2018 with guest vocalist Delphine Gardin in which they employed old recording techniques: the whole band in the same room set around two central microphones (with the help of a few close mics), each track mixed live straight to two-track tape machine with no edits. The energy, rhythm and interplay predominate and the pleasure can be felt through the speakers! In order to produce the vinyl the tapes were specially flown to Dublin for the analog engraving of lacquers making this one of the very few 100% analog vinyl releases of today. This music draws people from all walks of life, young and old, and most certainly will also have your spirits lifted! Het orkest, opgericht en geleid door saxofonist Tom Callens, bestaat uit ervaren 'MTV generation' jazzmusici uit België (beide landsdelen) en Nederland. Zij namen een plaat op (Red Label: Hommage to Lester Young & The Basie-Ites) in maart 2018 met gastzangeres Delphine Gardin gebruik makende van oude opname technieken: iedereen in dezelfde ruimte rond twee centrale microfoons (met behulp van enkele 'close mics'), elk nummer live gemixt zonder edits recht naar de analoge stereo-bandmachine. Energie, ritme en samenspel primeren en het plezier spat er af! Voor het maken van de vinyl werden de tapes speciaal naar Dublin gevlogen voor een analoge lakgravure wat dit éen van de weinige hedendaagse 100% analoge vinylplaten maakt.
