As Electronic Music knows no creative boundaries, Spiral Deluxe is clearly a profound and convincing example of what is possible in the times we live in today. Traditionally, they would be considered a musical quartet. Each of the 4 members contributing to make a special joint effort  the meeting of minds from different spectrums of the musical sphere, but if you move in closer to examine how each have modified the way they communicate in order to play with each other, its astonishing because it shows a entirely new platform on how collaborating can be from now on. Spiral Deluxe is a pure as it gets! A longtime vision of their drummer/percussionist and Jeff Mills  yes, that Jeff Mills! Before becoming the world renown and groundbreaking DJ, producer and artist he is recognized for, he was a drummer in his youth, which carried on up until he began DJing in the late 1970s. Since then, he had always carried idea to get back to his musical roots. This longtime dream began to surface a few years ago when Mills was bestowed a šwhite card› residency at the Museum du Le Louvre in Paris. It was there that he found the opportunity to form a band for one night and it opened the doors to a chance to materialize his dream. Since then, the formation has carefully evolved into one might describe as a šsuper band› - a group of highly skilled musicians, working together to reach a higher level of creativity. For example, although members are using electronic instruments, there is no MIDI syncing connection. Each plays their instrument un-attached as if any Jazz or Rock band would play together. Each having a vast amount of experience in live and studio projects, this release displays their wealth of skill and musical knowledge that comes from Jazz, Funk, Pop, Gospel, Detroit Techno and all forms of House Music. It's the meeting of minds of four musicians from different styles and background that dedicate themselves for searching harmonic divine. A musical excursion that discovers the higher level of music consciousness. Formed in 2014, the band came together as a project and vision of Jeff Mills, who had the idea to create a "super group", a band of highly skillful players. Mills began the search to find this unique mixture of musicians, that not only could adapt to new ways of playing, but each could contribute their vast amount of insight and knowledge to this special chemistry. MEMBERS: YUMIKO OHNO Moog Synthesizer A founding member of Buffalo Daughter, the electronic, experimental rock band formed in 1993 in Tokyo. The band has signed to Grand Royal label run by Beastie Boys in 1996, since when their activities are wide spread to all over the world. After signing the worldwide deals to Emperror Norton in Los Angeles, V2 records, the band has established their own label Buffalo Ranch. šKonjac-tion› released in 2014 is their seventh album and the band is actively performing mainly in Tokyo. In 2010 Ohno created šThe Rainy Table› for the theater performance for Strange Kinoko Dance Coampny for YCAM, which became her first solo works playing piano, synthesizers, steel pan and bass guitar. She does various collaborations with wide range of artist such as Cornelius aka Keigo Oyamada, Yann Tomita, Morgan Fisher and Hajime Tachibana. A new project started in 2014, Hello, Wendy! is a female synthesizer quartet performed and produced by Ohno. Recently from 2016 Ohno participates the world tour of Cornelius as a bassist. KENJI šJINO› HINO Bass Guitar Born in Tokyo, Kenji moved to New York City when he was six years old with his family. Influenced by his father who is the most famous trumpeter in Japan and known among jazz scene all over the world, he started trumpet when he was 9 and enrolled at La Guardia High School of Music & Art & Performing Arts at 15. He changed his instrument to bass guitar at the age of 17, when he started to learn from Jaco Pastorius. In 1986, he started his professional career, joining a house band at Apollo Theatre as well as playing with Joe, Jessica Simpson and Blondie. Since then, he constantly works world-widely with great talents such as Joe, Christopher Max & The New Millennium and others. Also, he formed his own band, recording his own albums. In 2014, he finished the 3rd album, šJino Jam›. GERALD MITCHELL Keyboards Gerald Mitchell, born and raised in Detroit is a musician, producer, band leader, Dj and sonic visionary whose music has made a huge impact on Detroit House and Techno. From his work on Underground Resistance's Interstellar Fugitives šSoul Saver› (aka UR 044) project to his Celestial Highways classic on Juan Atkin™s Metroplex and early House production on Soul City, Gerald's music has always been recognized by its soulful strength. His work with Underground Resistance and Dj Rolando led to the anthem šKnights of the Jaguar›; and now the group Los Hermanos. He became the musical director for UR's Galaxy 2 Galaxy / Los Hermanos Live tour 2005. Gerald has begun his solo career after touring as Los Hermanos Live Band and as a Dj in many festivals and clubs in Japan, Europe and USA. JEFF MILLS Drum machine, Drums, Percussions Worldly known as one of the greatest DJs and producers in the genre of Electronic Music, Jeff Mills™ work also crosses into many other styles of music, such as classical, Jazz, Afro Beat, film soundtracks, House music, Industrial Dance and Hip Hop/Rap. Before Djing, Mills was a Jazz drummer in many bands throughout his youth, growing up in Detroit. Though he™s not widely known as a percussionist, one can easily hear his unique štouch› throughout his long career, starting with work with the Industrial Dance band Final Cut and the infamous Underground Resistance; his collaborations with the classical pianist Mikhail Rudy, saxophonist Emile Parisien, Afro Beat drummer Tony Allen and many others. His presence, using the Roland TR-909 is unmistakable. Developing a MIDI-less way and without sync has allowed him to play as free and unrestricted as possible.
