Reggie Fields, aka THE REAL SHOOBEEDOO, who has been active as a bassist in various fields since around the 70's, has released his first leader album on "Wenha", the successor label of "Tribe", in 1981. This is his first leader album released in 1981, and it is a spiritual jazz work infused with jet-black groove and strong blackness cultivated through his "Tribe" related works and collaborations with Sun Ra and Pharoah Sanders. The Morning Sun" (M1) opens with a roaring electric bass and the dusky voice of Wendell Harrison, and the title track "Reminiscing" (M2) gradually builds up the tension from the wood bass solo. (The title track "The Morning Sun" (M1) opens with a rough blower by Wendell Harrison, while the title track "Reminiscing" (M2) gradually builds up the tension from a wood bass solo. The vocals on "The Wagon Walk" (M4) and "Ancient Egyptian Rhythms" (M5) are also worth a listen!
