So let™s begin. Radio Slave aka Matt Edwards - is a man whose talent doesn™t seem to end. His productions, remixes and DJ sets have only one aim: to make you move - inside and out. Originally from Brighton in the UK, Radio Slave re-located to the natural home of the electronic movement this past Decade, Berlin, in 2008. And now he has been set loose upon the vast Strictly Rhythm catalogue to create the next installment of the ˜diggin the crates™ Strictly Rhythms series and he has done such an amazing job he is now presenting the album. Radio Slave has produced to mixes for the compilation, one ˜downtown™ mix and the other ˜uptown™ mix as a homage to New York and the history of Strictly Rhythm itself. Here Radio Slave himself explains the background & ethos behind of the creation of the two mixes Radio Slave's Strictly downtown mix.... For this mix I wanted to bring some of the lesser known Strictly releases to |No the mixing desk, tracks like Felix Da Housecats "Lippstikk" and also the beautiful Marshall Jefferson produced "Needs not wants". I also had to include an Ultra Nate track and "Situation Critical" has always had a special place in my heart as does the timeless and stunning "all night long" by Mood II Swing. Armand Van Helden also appears as "The Mole People" and what a record. I've not stopped playing this 12" since I bought it back in 1995 and it's probably even more popular now than ever and that's why you gotta love Strictly Rhythm. The catalogue is so rich and diverse and full of such emotional and deep music and I'm still having as much pleasure listening to the tracks now as when they were first released !" Now the story behind the uptown mix: Radio Slave™s Strictly uptown mix„ šThis mix was inspired by the Strictly 12›s that I™ll still drop at clubs like the Panorama Bar in Berlin and Fabric in London. Timeless, hypnotic club tracks that still rock dancefloors around the globe !› The uptown mix includes mood II swing - I like it, Barbara Tucker stay together - ravin mix, mole people ocean, Kenny dope - tribal seagulls.
