Shur-I-Kan makes a welcome return to Freerange after establishing his and Milton Jacksons Dark Energy label as well as numerous remixes for the likes of Sygaire, MotorCitySoul, Laid and Robert Babicz. And just for those that think theyâ„¢ve got Shur-I-kan neatly placed in a little box called deep house, he goes and throws a whopping great curveball like this one. One Night In Tokyo is one of those monster club tracks the likes of which we saw a lot more of back when labels like Fluid Ounce and JCR were ruling it. A perfect blend of jazz, samba and house but with the power and energy of a peaktime techno track, this will definitely find its way into a variety of DJâ„¢s sets. Jimpster was instantly floored when he heard Shur-I-kan play this one out and knew straight away itâ„¢d make the perfect return to the label from the long-standing member of the Freerange family. Next up is Out Of Time, a return to the more familiar sound weâ„¢ve come to love from Tom Szirtes, taking a deeper, more harmonic route that builds slowly into the most beautiful chords. A real winter warmer for you this one. Finally, our favorite Dane Mathias Mesteno gets to work on his own remix of One Night In Tokyo. Mathias has made a couple of our preferred club tracks in the last couple of years, namely Andrea and Dixieâ„¢s Diner on Upon You so we knew heâ„¢d do a great job on this release. His sound is one that jacks heavily whilst always keeping things deep, dark and jazzy steering the original into a fresh direction perfect for the afterhours session.
