Sun is Shining Bob Marley is one of the pioneers of reggae. His musical career was characterized by the fusion of reggae, ska and rocksteady elements, as well as his distinctive singing and songwriting style. Marley˜s contributions to music raised the profile of Jamaican music worldwide, making him a pop culture legend to this day. Throughout his career, Marley became known as a Rastafarian icon, adding an air of spirituality to his music. He is also considered a worldwide symbol of Jamaican music, culture and identity, and was controversial for openly advocating democratic social reforms. In 1976, Marley survived an assassination attempt at his home that was believed to be politically motivated. He advocated the legalization of marijuana as well as Pan-Africanism. His greatest hits album »Legend« became the best-selling reggae album of all time. Shortly after his death in 1981, he was posthumously honored by Jamaica with his country˜s Order of Merit.
