LIGHTHOUSE OF GLASS

When the Swedish artist Sofia Härdig was little she composed her songs and sang to everything that made a sound; car engines, hoovers, washing machines, hairdryers, and boat motors, in addition hammering away on the family’s over hundred-year-old unturned piano while performing operatic voice experiences. It drove her parents insane. Now she is receiving tributes and being hailed by critics and music blogs, and press. Her music being playlisted and on radio rotation all over Europe, USA and Canada. The legendary English DJ and journalist Steve Lemacq, famous for championing new artists and bands to success, has played Sofia Härdig in his radio show Steve Lemacq Recommends at BBC 6 Music. In Germany Radio Eins dedicated a 2 hour to one of her releases. She has toured sold out shows in Europe. In her home country Sweden, she has been nominated to composer of the year for her album” And The Street Light Leads To The Sea.”

She has also been personally approved by Belle and Sebastian’s Stevie Jackson, who’s been loving and championing her Albums as well as by members of Sonic Youth. She has read song’s lyrics to Patti Smith backstage and worked with household Swedish names like the Grammy Award winners The Hellacopters and Bob Hund.

The Swedish Hall of fame artist Jenny Wilson is also supporting Sofias music and has done a remix of the Single Collision taken from the album. Additionally, she has worked with Yoshimi from Boredoms.

After performing alongside a number of impressive names, including Lydia Lynch. She has worked with Swedish Grammis awarded producer Jari Haapalainen. Sofia is known for her spellbinding and energetic out of the ordinary live shows. The world looks promising for Sofia Härdig. On the new album LIGHTHOUSE OF GLASS, she has apart from her own guitar not just one but two of Sweden’s finest guitarists: Robert Johnsson (Robert Johnsson and the punchdrunks) and John Essing (bob hund). And it doesn’t stop there Bebe Risenfors, (TomWaits, Elvis Costello) is also contributing alongside with trombonist Viktor Brobacke (Club Killers) and Violinist Sara Edin. Sofia herself doing vocals, trumpet, guitars, piano arrangements and drum-programmings. Sofia has also produced the album is mixed by Swedish Grammis award winner Nille Perned.

Sofia says about the making of the album: ” I wrote a song a day for 1 1/2 year. This is just a fragment of all that. I haven’t gone through all the material or even listened to it. I just taken´ song by song as I randomly opened them on my computer. I recorded Vocals and backing vocals, guitars and piano with drum programming as demos. When Bebe Risenfors called me from out of the blue and asked if he could join in on one of my shows because he was into my music I said yes. After the show he asked me to send him songs. I did and from the first second I heard what he added to my music I knew I wanted to work with him. This project was something that I had longed to do. It was like Christmas every time I opened a songproject on my computer that I had forgotten that I’d written and every time I opened something Bebe send me with is contributions. The beginning of a beautiful musicianship. It triggered me to record more, bring in Viktor and Sara and drummers. I went into this cave working on the project in solitude not taking a day off and came out on the other side with this record. It has been amazing working with all these beautiful musicians shaping and bringing these songs alive”
