Pure, raw pop music that brings a massive smile to my face. The most delightful thing I™ve heard in ages and highly addictive too! š Graeme Park šEvery band needs a gimmick. And your gimmick is, you don™t have one.› Rob Gretton šWhy can™t all pop music sound this good? Listening to ˜Dark Light™ reaffirmed that music has the power to enrich, the power to lift the spirit this really does fill you with a warm rosy glow, and compels you in an almost infantile fashion to spin around on some imagined dance floor. The new album displays the bands innate understanding of electronic hook laden pop, underpinned by a subtle techno bpm and refined yet emotive vocals. Dark Light should propel Section 25 deep into the public consciousness› Phil Newall, Louder Than War Mini Biography : Formed in Blackpool (Great Britain) by brothers Larry and Vin Cassidy in 1978.Section 25 were initially mentored by Joy Division, and went on to record four albums for Factory Records between 1980 and 1986. The first of these, Always Now, combined post-punk textures with spacey psychedelia, produced by Martin ˜Zero™ Hannett. Their third, From The Hip, produced in 1984 by New Orders Bernard Sumner, explored electro terrain, and spawned the oft-sampled techno hit Looking From A Hilltop. After a lengthy hiatus in the late 1980s, Section 25 eventually regrouped to release fifth album Part-Primitiv in 2007. This was followed by Best Of collection Dirty Disco in 2008, and a string of powerful live shows across Europe and America. Outstanding sixth album Nature + Degree arrived 2009, on which SXXV were joined by Beth Cassidy on vocals and keyboards. Sadly Larry passed away in February 2010, having completed work on new album Retrofit, a revisiting and re-imagining of previous material this was released to great acclaim the following September. In October 2011 the band release Invicta on Hacienda Records,a 4 track download EP February 2013 sees the joining of Jo Cassidy on backing vocals and the release on the Factory Benelux label of the seventh studio album Dark Light. A gorgeous slice of sinuously crafted dark pop produced by Celtic beitmeister Outernationale. The album really is a glorious celebration of hope. Now recognized as a leading genre band, Section 25 continue to play across the UK,Europe and America. The band contributed three tracks to the recent Warners/Rhino box set Factory Records: Communications 1978-1992, while the oft re-issued From The Hip was lauded as one of ™1000 Albums To Hear Before You Die™ by The Guardian newspaper. The group also feature prominently in recent definitive Factory biography šShadowplayers›.
