The title track combines old school gfunk grooves with techno sounds and dreamy leads from the rare Korg 770, while the boutique Russian Mad 5 drumsynth is spanking your ass with vibrant claps. Night of the bodySNADchers started as a project for the Goan Gandu label by Snad and Iggy the Bastard. It™s inspired by the trippy vibe of the endless (after)parties at Cirrus, near Chapora. Thunder Over Tbilisi expresses the pressure you feel in Georgia, specially after what recently happened to club life in Tbilisi. Coming back to Holland Thee J Johanz played at the Island of Terschelling and refound himself looking at the stars. Small dots in a seemingly infinite universe. But also massive electrifying diamonds. DJ FEEDBACK Michael Mayer: šLoving this and loving Georgia, too.› Prins Thomas: šJohanz always bringing the heat! Cannot pick a personal favourite yet but downloading and will play. James Zabiela: šAce stuff. Thunder is my fave here but Fight is super cool also. Thanks!› steve bug: šThunder Over Tbilisi is great!› Catz 'n Dogz: šperfect !! love all the tunes› Jason Kendig: šsonic wizardry at its finest› Iron Curtis: šflight770 is excellent! liking the entire release though! thanks so much for sending this along. › Jacques Renault: šDig this Thunder track, nice work› http://machinesarefunky.blogspot.com/2018/07/flight-770-thee-j-johanz-ballyhoo. html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+MachinesAreFunky +%28Machines+Are+Funky%29 I first came into contact with Thee J Johanz after buying ˜Move Your Butty™, having first heard Nick Hoppner mixing it out of and into something else. It™s understated insistence struck a chord so I got curious. I know nothing about the man himself, but it comes as no surprise to learn that he has a rich heritage, having recorded on the legendery Irdial Discs back in the mid nineties. This release echoes of ˜Move Your Butty™; there is a similar adherence to spatial detail with the various sonic components having plenty of room to breath. Johanz Westerman knows how to get the juices flowing, and on the basis of this EP is a master of the sparse acid overlay, the 303 being omnipresent, (except in ˜Night of the Invisable™), but never overplayed throughout this release. Lovely stuff.
