After sharing her personal debut singles "U" and "Another One," JAZMYN, the Brussels-born artist blending Jazz, RnB, Soul, and Neo Soul, is proud to present her very first EP titled Chapter One. This EP is more than just a collection of songs-it's an invitation to a sensory and emotional journey, where every note and every word resonates with authentic sincerity.
To celebrate the release of Chapter One, JAZMYN is hosting an exceptional release party with a full band at the Beursschouwburg on October 2, 2024. This event will mark a key moment in her musical journey, offering the public a unique and immersive live experience, where the tracks from the EP will come to life on stage in all their intensity.
The tracks on Chapter One were created in a unique creative dynamic, some written in the intimacy of her Marolles apartment on a tenor ukulele, and others composed in collaboration with her band during a residency in the Belgian countryside. This shared creative process with her musicians Florian Decembry (guitar), Charline Flammang (bass), Pierre Ferrand (drums) and Lenny Steigerwald has enriched the EP with a sonic and emotional diversity that perfectly reflects JAZMYN's hybrid universe.
"This project is an honest expression of my most complex emotions," JAZMYN explains. "I wanted to create music that resonates with those who listen to it, offering both comfort and a mirror to their own experiences."
Every track on Chapter One is imbued with JAZMYN's unique synesthesia, an ability to associate each sound with a specific color, which further enhances the auditory experience. These nuances are also reflected in all the visual material accompanying the release, plunging listeners into a universe that is as visual as it is auditory.
JAZMYN's musical journey is rooted in a long-standing passion. As a child, she would frequent media libraries with her father to compose her first playlists, drawing inspiration from artists like TLC, Beyoncé, Lauryn Hill, and Ella Fitzgerald. After earning a fine arts degree, she moved to London, where she honed her skills at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, learning the importance of musical collaboration. Returning to Belgium, she deepened her passion for Neo Soul at the Jazz Studio, and began her musical career in 2018 with her debut single "Golden."
Today, with Chapter One, JAZMYN unveils a new chapter in her artistic journey. A work that, both introspective and universal, touches the heart and offers a fresh perspective on the Jazz/Soul scene, blending introspection, personal growth, and healing.
