Wareika - Belonging - Eskimo Recordings (Bel)
While we're o n the subject of Theo Parrish esque scratchy deep house plodders, here's another dropping on Belgium's Eskimo. This time round, the atmospheric, smoky grooves t ake centre stage, as the previously unknown Wareika concentrate on layered percu ssion (bongs, congas, soft hand claps), minimal pads and a super-seductive, almo st whispered soul vocal. It's terrific stuff - proper late-night tackle that wil l caress and tingle your skin in all the right places. MA / 4 stars
