Together with the re-release of Undskyld™s debut album, Wishing Well, a new 7› vinyl called A Little Closer will also be released with the songs šMany Times Before› and šA Little Closer›. These songs show a different side of Undskyld, so hook up those record players and get to know this three-piece danger. Undskyld is an Antwerp based trio, that draws inspiration from odd jazz, aggressive post-punk and poetic folk music. Preferring soundscapes over words in between songs, the live sets are a sonic trip, as the group makes its way through waves of krautrock, grunge and psychedelic jazz-rock. The band went on tour from Prague to Berlin in August and earlier this year they toured Belgium and the Netherlands after the release of their first music video for šCity Preacher, directed by upcoming director Maxim Hectors. They perform often and play often, looping and improvising in order to make every show a different and intense experience. A Little Closer is a more song-oriented work than Undskyld™s debut, and it really feels as if it™s a little closer than its predecessor. The songs have taken many attempts to record, dating from the earliest demo™s for Wishing Well. This is not because they are more difficult than any Undskyld song, but because only these recordings managed to capture the soul of the songs, and the essence of the lyrics. With the vocals up front, surrounded by intricate play between guitar, bass, and drums, it™s easy to get washed over by the changing rhythms, deep bass, and jangling chords. The artwork by Undskyld™s own Alec De Bruyn shows some close fingerprints, crowding the label, with šUNDSKYLD› as the space in between the gaps. With two of the very first songs from the band, we can listen to A Little Closer as an early Undskyld fingerprint, still as fresh in the present as it was in earliest rehearsals. A Little Closer will be available on a limited edition of white or blue vinyl, as well as on streaming platforms from October 28th, with help from independent label FONS Records.
